Chennai, Sept 29: Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) police are conducting searches at properties belonging to the son and daughter of Arasakumar, who was arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 100-crore fraud involving private schools.
The case was registered based on complaints from private school managements, who alleged that money was collected by promising to secure government recognition and approvals for their institutions. Arasakumar, Suresh and Raja were subsequently arrested in connection with the case.
During the investigation, the CCB registered a case against former DMK School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on the evidence collected. Police also identified his relative Saravanan as allegedly assisting him and conducted searches at locations linked to them. Several persons connected with the case have also been summoned and questioned.
