A growing number of Chinese workers are using social media to complain about employers requiring them to work weekends immediately before and after the country’s upcoming week-long national holiday.
The practice allows companies to maintain production during the extended holiday period, but workers have complained that the arrangement effectively reduces the benefit of the break. Some online groups have also called for consumer boycotts of companies accused of excessive working demands.
