Nagoya, Sept 30:
Indian archers Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan advanced to the men’s recurve individual quarter-finals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after winning their respective Round of 16 matches.
Top seed Dhiraj defeated Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Hsiang-Hui 6-2, while Neeraj produced an upset by beating South Korea’s multiple Olympic medallist Kim Je Deok 6-4.
The two Indians will now continue their campaigns with a place in the semi-finals at stake. Their progress comes as archery takes centre stage in India’s medal campaign on Wednesday.
India has several medal opportunities on the day, with archery, boxing, wrestling and women’s hockey among the key events on the schedule.
