Coimbatore, Sept 30:
MDMK principal secretary and MP Durai Vaiko has alleged that the DMK and AIADMK were responsible for the by-elections being forced upon the State, while accusing the two parties of having held indirect discussions that caused discomfort among alliance partners.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, Durai Vaiko said he welcomed the Communist parties extending outside support and said the MDMK was currently working with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam as part of the Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance.
He said the MDMK was working for the TVK’s victory in the by-elections.
Durai Vaiko alleged that continued indirect talks between the DMK and AIADMK had caused shock and embarrassment among their alliance partners, leading parties including the MDMK to leave the alliance.
He also alleged that the reported horse-trading between the DMK and AIADMK was responsible for several AIADMK functionaries leaving the party.
Durai Vaiko further said that the formation of a third front at the Centre without the Congress would benefit the BJP. He also alleged that the presence of what he described as “power centres” within the DMK was responsible for several problems.
These remarks were made by Durai Vaiko while speaking about the current political situation and the by-elections.
