Chennai, Oct 5:
More than 1,500 houses in Srinivasapuram under the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board have developed structural problems, leaving residents worried about their safety.
Several houses reportedly have damaged ceilings and cracks in walls, with residents expressing concern over the condition of both individual homes and common areas. Many families said they were increasingly apprehensive about remaining inside the buildings, particularly when structural components show signs of deterioration.
Residents have urged the authorities to conduct a detailed structural assessment of the housing blocks and initiate repair or reconstruction measures wherever necessary.
The issue has also raised concerns about the upkeep of old tenements in the city, with residents seeking immediate intervention to prevent further deterioration.
