Chennai, Oct 5:
A senior officer working in Indian Bank’s head office in Chennai, committed suicide by jumping to death from the fourth floor balcony of the building located at Parry’s Corner area in the city, last evening.
He was identified as Kanishq Bajpai (57). A native of Uttar Pradesh, he was working as the Chief Manager of IT division and was living with his family in the city.
Police said last evening, he came out of his office on the fourth floor, went to the balcony area and leapt himself to death.
A security guard who witnessed it called for help and the officials rushed him to the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The North Beach police have registered a case and are investigating to ascertain the reason for the bank’s top executive taking the extreme step.
As initial probe revealed that Bajpai had spoken to his family members for about 15 minutes before jumping to death, police are also questioning his wife and son to ascertain whether he was under any stress.
In an official statement on their social media, the Bank expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
“The bank stands firmly beside the bereaved family in this difficult hour and remains committed to extending all possible support and assistance to them,” it said.
