Chennai, Oct 31:
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to participate in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, from January 18 to 22, 2027, as the Tamil Nadu Government steps up efforts to attract international investments.
Industries Minister Keerthana is expected to visit Switzerland to make preliminary arrangements for the Chief Minister’s participation in the five-day conference.
The 57th annual meeting of the WEF will bring together political leaders, heads of major global companies, investors and policymakers from across the world. Representatives of more than 100 countries and over 1,000 leading international companies are expected to take part.
Vijay’s participation follows an invitation from WEF President and CEO Alois Zwinggi and Managing Director Maroun Kairouz. The Chief Minister is expected to use the global platform to showcase Tamil Nadu’s industrial infrastructure, investment opportunities and policies aimed at promoting emerging sectors.
The State Government is working towards its ambitious target of transforming Tamil Nadu into a 1.5 trillion-dollar economy. With States competing to attract international investments, the Davos meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to engage directly with global investors and business leaders.
Until now, Tamil Nadu was largely represented at the Davos meeting by its Industries Ministers. Vijay’s proposed participation marks a shift towards the Chief Minister personally leading the State’s investment promotion efforts at the international forum.
