Wuhan, Oct 5:
World No. 1 Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the Wuhan Open after suffering an injury, dealing a blow to the tournament and forcing the leading player to miss another important event on the women’s tennis calendar.
Rybakina had established herself as one of the leading performers on tour and was expected to be among the major contenders in Wuhan.
Her withdrawal comes during a crucial phase of the season, with players competing for ranking points and qualification positions ahead of the WTA Finals.
The injury will now require Rybakina to manage her workload carefully as the season enters its final stretch. Her absence also opens up the draw for several other leading players seeking a major title.
The Wuhan tournament is one of the significant events of the Asian swing and attracts several of the world’s top-ranked players.
