NEW DELHI:
The Supreme Court is set to get three new judges on Tuesday, taking the strength of the apex court to 37, including Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, against a sanctioned strength of 38.
The Union Law Ministry on Monday notified the appointments of the three judges. They are expected to take oath on Tuesday.
The appointments come at a time when the Supreme Court is handling a large number of cases. With the induction of the three judges, the court will have only one vacancy against its sanctioned strength.
The appointments are expected to improve the court’s capacity to hear and dispose of cases.
