The trailer of Haiku, starring Aegan, Sridevi Apalla and Femina George, has been released, offering a glimpse into what appears to be a quirky romantic comedy set against a college backdrop. Directed by Yuvaraj Chinnasamy, the film is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on October 23.
The 145-second trailer introduces Aegan as Mano, who finds himself as the only boy in a women’s college. The unusual situation forms the basis for several humorous moments, while the trailer also hints at a romantic track involving Mano and Sridevi Apalla’s character. Femina George appears to have an important role in the relationship between the principal characters. The trailer also suggests that the film will combine humour and romance with an emotional thread.
The film marks the Tamil debut of Sridevi Apalla, who earned appreciation for her performance in the Telugu film Court – State vs. A Nobody. Aegan, known for Joe and Kozhipannai Chelladurai, plays the lead, while Femina George, known for Minnal Murali and Sesham Mike-il Fathima, appears in a prominent role. Adirchi Arun, Subramaniya Sethu, Adhiyaman, Mime Gopi and Indhumathi Manigandan are also part of the cast.
Yuvaraj Chinnasamy, known for his work on the television series Aaha Kalyanam, has written and directed the film. Hariharan Ram, who directed Joe, has contributed additional screenplay. The film is presented as a breezy, feel-good romantic entertainer, with the trailer now giving audiences a clearer idea of its unusual premise.
Haiku went on floors in December 2025 and completed its shooting schedule in June this year. The makers had earlier unveiled behind-the-scenes footage after announcing the completion of production. A song was also shot on a specially erected set during the production.
Siddhu Kumar has composed the music, while Priyesh Gurusamy is the cinematographer and Sakthi Pranesh handles the editing. Vijay Bulganin was initially announced as the composer but was later replaced by Siddhu Kumar.
The film is backed by Dr D Arulanandhu and Mathewo Arulanandhu under the Vision Cinema House banner, with Srinivas Niranjan as co-producer. Haiku is Aegan’s third collaboration with the production house after Joe (2023) and Kozhipannai Chelladurai (2024). The film is also set for release in Telugu and Malayalam, apart from Tamil.
The film’s post-theatrical digital streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix.
