Actor Sivakarthikeyan has announced a shift in his film choices, saying he will focus on mass entertainers that offer complete entertainment to audiences. He made the announcement while interacting with fans and fan-club administrators in Chennai, where he also shared updates on his upcoming films Seyon and his yet-untitled project with director Ramkumar Balakrishnan, tentatively titled SK27.
âHereafter, I will only do mass entertainers that offer complete entertainment,â the actor said, assuring fans that both his upcoming projects would meet their expectations. He said the directors of the two films had expressed confidence in their content and asked him to convey that assurance to his fans.
Sivakarthikeyan revealed that around 60 per cent of Seyon has been completed, including its songs and several other portions. A few major action sequences remain to be shot. Directed by Sivakumar Murugesan, the rural-based film is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran under Raaj Kamal Films International. It also stars Bhagyashri Borse, Raj B Shetty, Seeman, Bala Saravanan, Arul Doss and Singampuli. The film is expected to target a Pongal 2027 release.
The actor also confirmed that shooting has begun on SK27, his first collaboration with Ramkumar Balakrishnan, who gained recognition with the film Parking. The first schedule has commenced with an opening fight sequence, followed by preparations for an opening song. Sivakarthikeyan said he had come directly to the fan meeting after shooting until 6 am. The film is backed by Sathya Jyothi Films, features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead and has music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Addressing criticism directed at him and his fans, Sivakarthikeyan urged them not to waste time responding to detractors. He asked them to smile, enjoy life and move forward, instead of seeking revenge against those who criticise them. He also encouraged his fans to focus on their studies, careers and families, and to give back to people who had helped them in life.
Describing himself as a âpeople-made starâ, Sivakarthikeyan acknowledged the role audiences have played in his growth as an actor. His latest announcement signals a stronger emphasis on commercial cinema, with Seyon and SK27 expected to showcase action, songs and the larger-than-life entertainment elements his fans seek.
