Augsburg, Oct 12:
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history after a costly mistake in the opening seconds, as Bayern were held to a 2-2 draw by Augsburg.
The visitors played the ball back to Neuer from the kickoff, but his attempted chipped clearance went wrong and Robin Fellhauer intercepted it to score after just eight seconds.
Bayern recovered after the early setback, with Ismael Saibari equalising in the 55th minute. Rodrigo Ribeiro restored Augsburg’s lead nine minutes later before Nathaniel Brown scored in the 81st minute to earn Bayern a point.
Luis Diaz had two goals ruled out for offside following video assistant referee reviews. The draw marked the second time in five league matches that Bayern had dropped points this season.
Elsewhere, Rayo Vallecano’s La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao was suspended after supporters repeatedly threw paper aeroplanes and other objects onto the pitch in protest against club owner Raul Martin Presa.
It was Rayo’s first home league match of the season since the stadium had been closed by city authorities over safety concerns. In the English Premier League, defending champions Arsenal returned from the extended international break with a 2-1 victory over Leeds.
Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes scored for Arsenal, who bounced back from a heavy defeat to Brighton and gained momentum ahead of their Champions League meeting with Manchester City. The win also came days after manager Mikel Arteta extended his contract.
