Chennai, Oct 13:
Power supply will be suspended in select parts of Chennai on Wednesday, October 14, from 9 am to 2 pm to facilitate routine maintenance work by the Tamil Nadu electricity authorities.
The shutdown will affect specified localities in the JJ Nagar and Avadi areas. Electricity supply is expected to be restored after the maintenance work is completed, according to the announcement. Residents and commercial establishments in the affected streets have been advised to make the necessary arrangements in advance.
In JJ Nagar, the affected locations include Divyam Apartments, Alamaram, Jayarathinam Apartments, Mugappair Eri Scheme and Bhajanai Koil Street.
In Avadi, the power shutdown will cover Kalaignar Nagar, Kovil Pathagai Main Road, Poombozhil Nagar, Masoodi Street, Kannadapalayam and Thirumullaivoyal Road.
The scheduled interruption is part of maintenance work intended to ensure the proper functioning of the electricity distribution network. Such shutdowns are generally undertaken to allow officials to inspect equipment, carry out repairs and attend to other work that may require the temporary isolation of power lines.
The five-hour window has been set to enable the work to be completed safely. However, the actual restoration time may depend on the progress of the maintenance work.
Residents in the affected areas can plan essential household activities accordingly, while shops and other establishments may need to make arrangements for equipment that depends on uninterrupted electricity.
Power supply is expected to resume once the work is completed. Consumers should note that the announced schedule applies only to the specified areas and streets.
