Chennai, Oct 15:

The AIADMK has issued a legal notice to Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law CTR Nirmal Kumar, demanding Rs 1 crore in compensation over alleged defamatory remarks against party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami.

The notice, sent through AIADMK MP and advocate Inba Durai on behalf of party whip Agri SS Krishnamurthy, accused the Minister of making statements claiming that Palaniswami had brought the party under his personal control and reduced it to a paper organisation.

The notice alleged that the remarks, which were circulated through print, television and online media, damaged the reputation of Palaniswami and the AIADMK. It demanded that the Minister withdraw his statements within seven days, issue a public clarification and apology, and refrain from repeating the allegations without evidence.

The AIADMK also demanded Rs 1 crore as compensation for the alleged damage to the reputation of the party and its leader. The notice warned that failure to comply with the demands would lead to appropriate civil and criminal legal proceedings.
