Dubai, Oct 15:
India captain Shreyas Iyer has climbed three places to a career-best fourth position in the latest ICC T20 International batting rankings following his maiden century in the format.
Iyer’s rise comes after an impressive start to India’s ongoing five-match T20I series against the West Indies. His performance in the opening match helped him break into the top four, giving India a strong presence among the world’s leading T20I batters.
Iyer joins Ishan Kishan, who occupies the top spot, and Abhishek Sharma, who is second, among the leading Indian performers in the rankings. Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan is placed third.
Other notable movers include Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis, who climbed three places to 23rd, and Sanju Samson, who moved up four places to joint 27th. West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford also gained 13 places to reach joint 24th.
