Actor Arjun Das and filmmaker Madhumita have joined hands for an upcoming film titled John Doe, the makers announced on Sunday. The project is expected to be a crime thriller and will feature Sanchana Natarajan and Srishti in important roles alongside Arjun Das.
The title was revealed by Arka Mediaworks, which is producing the film. The production house described the title as one that answers a question while raising many more, suggesting a story built around mystery and the identity of its central character. Further details about the plot and the roles played by the cast have not yet been disclosed.
Madhumita has co-written the story and screenplay with Nicholas Chevaillier and is directing the project. The technical team includes composer Mujeeb Majeed, cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, editor Vijay Venkataraman and stunt choreographer Dinesh Subbarayan. Producers Prasad Devineni and Shobu Yarlagadda are backing the film under the Arka Mediaworks banner.
Madhumita previously directed films including Vallamai Tharayo, Kola Kolaya Mundhirika and Moone Moonu Varthai. She also helmed Kaalidhar Laapata, the Hindi remake of her Tamil film K.D. Her work has included both feature films and anthology segments, reflecting an interest in varied storytelling styles.
Arjun Das has continued to explore different formats, with recent releases including Con City and Once More. He also appeared alongside Aishwarya Lekshmi in the Netflix series #Love, directed by Balaji Mohan. John Doe marks another collaboration for the actor as he takes on a project that promises a crime-driven narrative under Madhumita’s direction.
