Prabhas’ much-anticipated action entertainer Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, will hit theatres worldwide on October 29, 2027, coinciding with the Diwali festive season. The revised release date sets up a potential box-office clash with Ramayana Part 2, the second instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor.
Vanga announced the new date on social media along with a new poster featuring Prabhas in a black outfit, cap and sunglasses. The film was earlier scheduled for release on March 5, 2027. The change moves the project to one of the busiest periods in the theatrical calendar, when major releases typically compete for audience attention and screens.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga, who previously directed the commercially successful films Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal. Prabhas is expected to play a police officer in the action drama, which also stars Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi, Prakash Raj and Kanchana in significant roles. The project has generated considerable interest following the release of its first-look material.
Ramayana Part 2 is expected to feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. Although both projects are targeting the Diwali period, the exact release schedule of Ramayana Part 2 will determine whether they open on the same day or compete at different points during the festive window.
The potential face-off between the two large-scale productions could become one of the biggest box-office contests of 2027. With Prabhas commanding a substantial pan-Indian following and Ramayana drawing on a story familiar to audiences across generations, both films will be looking to secure a significant share of the holiday audience.
