The makers of Nayanthara-starrer Mookuthi Amman 2 have unveiled a special teaser titled Rise of Mahashakti, building anticipation for the devotional thriller ahead of its theatrical release for Diwali on November 6.
Directed by Sundar C, the sequel features Nayanthara returning as the divine protagonist. The teaser opens in a kingdom threatened by impending danger, with a queen sacrificing herself to protect her young son. As soldiers search for the child, the narrative hints at a larger supernatural conflict and the arrival of Mookuthi Amman. The glimpse suggests a story spanning two timelines, combining mythology, devotion and action on a larger scale. The film is being mounted as a pan-Indian production and is expected to release in five languages.
Produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh under Vels Film International, the film has music by Hiphop Tamizha and cinematography by Gopi Amarnath. The ensemble cast includes Regina Cassandra, Kannada actor Duniya Vijay, Yogi Babu and Singam Puli. The makers have indicated that the sequel will be a standalone story rather than a direct continuation of the 2020 film Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji. The original combined religious satire with comedy, while the new instalment appears to take a more expansive mythological-thriller approach. With its festival release planned for November 6, the film is positioned to capitalise on the Diwali holiday audience.
