Chennai, Oct 23:
Vanni Arasu, Szaze Minister and deputy general secretary of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), has launched a sharp attack on the DMK and Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman, accusing the latter of making derogatory remarks against Dravidian leaders and criticising the DMK for its political approach.
In a post on X on Thursday, Vanni Arasu criticised Seeman’s past statements on the Dravidian movement, Periyar E V Ramasamy and former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. He argued that the ideological conflict between the Aryan and Dravidian traditions had been discussed by leaders such as B R Ambedkar and Periyar.
Referring to Seeman’s political speeches, Vanni Arasu alleged that the NTK leader had used insulting language against Periyar and Karunanidhi. He also accused Seeman of attacking the DMK and its ideological legacy through personal remarks rather than engaging in a substantive political debate.
Vanni Arasu referred to the Dravidian ideological tradition associated with C N Annadurai and Karunanidhi, particularly their opposition to caste hierarchy and their emphasis on social justice. He argued that those who claimed to oppose the Dravidian movement should be judged by their positions on these principles.
He also criticised Seeman over his alleged rejection of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu because it had been issued as a government order during Karunanidhi’s tenure. Vanni Arasu described the position as inconsistent with the respect that should be shown to Tamil language and cultural identity.
The Minister said the DMK appeared to have forgotten the nature of Seeman’s earlier attacks while engaging in the current political climate. He maintained that his party’s ideological position was rooted in the principles of Periyar and Ambedkar and that it would not accept what he described as subservience to Brahminical ideology.
Concluding his post, Vanni Arasu said neither the DMK nor the NTK appeared to be acting with political propriety, using the pointed remark that both parties lacked shame.
