The first single, ‘Thangapulla’, from actor Jiiva’s upcoming film Thagappan has been released by music composer and actor G V Prakash Kumar. The emotionally moving song captures the love, longing and pain of separation experienced by a father living away from his son.
Directed by Ra. Venkat and produced by Lark Studios, the film features music by Marshall Robinson. The lyrics for ‘Thangapulla’ have been penned by Pa. Vijay, while Murugavel has lent his voice to the song. The track explores the deep emotional bond between a father and son, particularly the feelings of a father who cannot openly express his affection.
Unlike conventional father-son songs that celebrate moments of togetherness, ‘Thangapulla’ portrays a father who secretly watches his son’s happy moments from a distance. Unable to share his love directly, he finds happiness in observing his son’s life from afar. The song brings out the unspoken emotions, affection and yearning of a father separated from his child.
The soothing composition, heartfelt lyrics and Murugavel’s expressive vocals add depth to the song. Set against visuals highlighting family relationships, the track underlines the emotional struggles of a father and the significance of familial bonds.
Set in and around Madurai, Thagappan revolves around the relationship between a father and son, family affection and human emotions. Jiiva returns to a full-fledged rural entertainer after Thenavattu, with Rajisha Vijayan playing the female lead. K Kumar is producing the film, with M Sukumar handling cinematography and Nagooran Ramachandran taking care of editing.
Think Music has acquired the audio rights of the film. Zee Tamil has secured the satellite rights, while ZEE5 has bagged the OTT rights even before the film’s completion. Scheduled for release on December 24, Thagappan has generated expectations, with the release of its first single adding to the buzz.
