Chennai,  Nov 2:
Southern Railway has introduced a revised suburban train timetable from November 1, bringing changes to services on the Chennai Central-Arakkonam, Chennai Central-Sullurupeta and Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu sections. The changes include a new midday service, extension of existing trains, revised stopping patterns and an additional halt at Guduvanchery. The MRTS timetable will remain unchanged.
A new suburban service will leave Tiruvallur at 12.25 pm and reach Moore Market Complex near Chennai Central at 1.45 pm. Two existing services operating between Moore Market Complex and Pattabiram have been extended to Tiruvallur, while another pair of services will be extended to Kadambattur. The evening stopping patterns on the Arakkonam route have also been revised. The 7.30 pm fast service will stop at all stations, while the 7.45 pm slow service will be converted into a fast train.
On the Chennai Central-Sullurupeta section, an early-morning service that previously terminated at Gummidipundi will now run up to Sullurupeta. It will leave Moore Market Complex at 5.20 am and reach Sullurupeta at 7.55 am. The return service will depart Sullurupeta at 8.10 am and reach Chennai at 10.40 am.
In another change, the semi-fast train from Arakkonam to Chennai Beach, departing Arakkonam at 7.30 am, will stop at Guduvanchery at 9.20 am. The revised schedule is intended to improve connectivity for commuters travelling between Chennai and its neighbouring districts. Passengers have been advised to check the updated timings and stopping patterns before planning their journeys.
