The Tamil Nadu Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department has invited open tenders for the procurement and statewide supply of 60,000 gold coins and 60,000 silk sarees under the newly launched ‘Annan Seer’ wedding assistance scheme for the 2026–27 financial year.

Under the tender specifications, each gold coin must weigh exactly 8 grams of 22-carat gold, bearing a 916 BIS Hallmark certification. The coins are designed to carry the Tamil Nadu government emblem embossed on one side and an image of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on the reverse.

The procured gold coins will be securely distributed across district treasuries in all 38 districts of the state for disbursement to eligible brides from families with an annual income up to Rs 2.5 lakh.

Alongside the gold, the government has floated bids for 60,000 silk sarees made of 100% pure mulberry silk yarn, mandating both Silk Mark and Handloom Mark certifications.

According to tender guidelines, each saree must measure 6.20 metres, including a 0.70-metre blouse piece, with a minimum total weight of 430 grams comprising 380 grams of silk and 50 grams of half-fine zari in the border, pallu, and motifs.

The tender process is scheduled for completion ahead of purchase orders being issued by the end of December.
