Metrowater lorry kills child at Villivakkam

Chennai: A one-and-a-half year old baby died after being hit by a Metrowater lorry at Rajamangalam near Villivakkam last night.

According to the police, Mohit, son of Kalaivanan was standing on the roadside with his mother near their house at Third Street, North Jagannathan Nagar when the vehicle hit him.

The lorry was returning after supplying water when the mishap occurred. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. The lorry was seized by Thirumangalam Traffic Investigation department and driver Manikandan was arrested by the police. The body was sent to Government Kilpauk Hospital for post mortem.
