Chennai: A resident of Nanganallur is throwing open the doors of their house this Navarathri for the general public. In a note, Gowri Shankar said they celebrate Navarathri with pomp and gaiety.

As per the tradition of their grandfather, they display rangolis of Chakrams during Navarathri. This is a prayer to ā€˜invite’ Ambal to take the rangoli as Her seat during Navarathri, said Gowri Shankar. On the first three days, it would be Durga Chakram; on the second day three days it would be Lakshmi Chakram; and on the last three days, it would be Sri Chakram.

“We also draw Ashta Aiswarya Kolam / Sahasra Dala Padma Kolam for the well-being all mankind,” said the note. The hosts also give a tip: You are welcome to their house during Navarathri with family and friends to get Ambal’s blessings. But if you visit during the last three days,Ā  you can see all the kolams and rangolis together, they say. Another fascinating feature is that they preserve the rangolis for a month and so visitors can plan their visit according to their convenience. Check out the link for Navarathri celebrations in their house some years back. http://youtube/wPoHG3siXHY The house address is: C V Gowri Sankar, #20, 4th Street, Thillai Ganga Nagar, Chennai-600 061.
