Chennai: The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) will give up its plan of going on appeal in the Supreme Court in the 18 MLAs disqualification case if by-elections are held to the 18 constituencies.
According to reports, AMMK deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran stated this while speaking to mediapersons in Madurai today.
The Madras High Court Thursday upheld the disqualification of the 18 MLAs by Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal. The MLAs, owing allegiance to Dhinakaran who was ousted from the AIADMK, had planned to go on appeal against the verdict.
In fact, Thanga Tamilselvan, who is a close aide of Dhinakaran, had even said they were planning to move the Supreme Court 30 October.
But this morning, Dhinakaran told mediapersons that they would not go on appeal if by-elections were announced to the 18 constituencies.
He went on to add that all 18 disqualified MLAs continued to be with him.
