Chennai: Actress Lakshmi Ramakrishnan who resides in Iyyappanthangal in the city has registered a complaint against her apartment association and has alleged that it was involved in a scam.
The ‘Solvadhellam Unmai’ fame lives at Prestige Bella Vista here and has filed various allegations against the apartment association.
Speaking to News Today, she said, “Our apartment project was announced in 2013 and the first apartment was registered in 2015. An association was formed with five prime members in it in 2013 when the foundation was not even laid. In 2017, as per the contract, 1,300 owners filled the form and submitted it to the registrar and then applied to form the association. This is when we came to know that an association was formed earlier itself. The registrar said the new association cannot be formed and as per the Societies Act, this previously formed association is legal.”
“Now, these five people again used their influence, gave some misinformation to the IG and obtained legal permission for the formation of this association. This also forced the builder to conduct the elections in our apartment. Around 800 people who have not even paid their maintenance fee and who are not supposed to vote have taken part in this election. Every year, Rs 13.5 crore is paid as the maintenance fee. How can we believe them? How do we know that they are spending the whole money for our welfare?” she questioned.
“When I got involved in this issue, the people involved in the association feared that this may be publicised and targeted me. They spoke ill of my profession and gave me mental torture. I was verbally abused. I could not tolerate such humiliation and so filed a complaint against them; the policemen are expected to visit our place on Saturday,” the actress revealed.
