Chennai: Himalaya Purifying Neem face wash conducted the third phase of its pan-India campaign, ‘My first pimple’ at Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls school Mylapore Thursday.

‘My first Pimple’ is an initiative by Himalaya brand that aims to connect with teenagers with an intent to tackle the psychological challenges faced by them during their age due to pimples.

As a part of the campaign, Himalaya brings successful women from different walks of life and conducts an interactive session with students, who encourage the girls to focus on their larger goals in life. Dipika Pallikal, India’s top ranked squash player was the guest speaker.

Interacting with the students, she said, “Coming to a school it brings back a lot of memories. Ever since this event came up it really connected mewell. I really wanted to spend some time with young girls here.”

“I also had skin problems and I didn’t care about it much. I would like to say what my grandmother told me once – It’s not about how you look but it is about what you do in life that counts,” she said.

Speaking to News Today, Brand Manager – Face wash, The Himalaya Drug Company, Keerthika Damodaran said, “Basically we wanted to make the teenagers believe that pimples and other skin problem is not really a worry and it is what we do in life that matter the most. So through women celebrities, we wanted the school children to transcend their thoughts into something useful instead of worrying about pimples that deter their confidence.”

About the campaign, she said, “We started this campaign in 2016 across eight cities around the country and the response we got was  overwhelming. Till now we have covered 20 plus cities and in 2018 we have started with Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Jalandhar. Chennai is our fourth city this year. There are still three or four cities left for the year and we are looking forward to it.”
