Bengaluru: “If whip is violated, action will be taken in accordance with law. There is no second talk about it, but I’m confident that all 80 MLAs will be on our side,” said Congress’ Karnataka chief Dinesh Gundu Rao on Monday.
Gundu Rao issued the statement amid reports about threat to the Congress-JD(S) government ahead of the budget session.
Speaking to reporters, he said that he was confident that all MLAs will be on their side and those who were allured by the BJP are now aware what BJP is like.
The BJP had earlier alleged that the Congress-JDS coalition government was in a coma and questioned whether Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would even present his governments second budget on 8 February. It had also said the party may move a no-confidence motion against the government during the session.
However, now, Rao’s statements have gained significance. The joint sitting of the state legislature tomorrow will kickstart the budget session.
Reports said Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah will be hosting dinner for Congress ministers at his official residence today and a host of issues and strategy would be discussed.
