Coimbatore: A 34-year-old woman hit her estranged husband with a log and attempted to commit suicide by drinking a cleaning agent and mosquito repellent yesterday.
While the man was brought dead to the hospital, the condition of the woman is said to be critical.
According to media reports, the couple, Baburaj (37) and Bhagyam (34) were living separately for the last few months, after he deserted her and their three daughters for another woman.
Yesterday around 2 am Baburaj got drunk and visited Bhagyam’s house. When the woman asked him to get out a quarrel ensued between them and tried to attack him with a liquor bottle. She retaliated by hitting him with a log and he collapsed. She then consumed a cleaning agent and mosquito repellent.
Their elder daughter found her parents lying unconscious and informed the neighbours. While Baburaj was declared brought dead, the condition of Bhagyam was critical, added the report. The police have registered a case against Bhagyam and further investigations were on.
