With awareness about science and technology increasing, culture and tradition are slowly taking a back seat. However, residing in the neighbourhood is Nadana Sivan, a renowned naadi jothidar who has been predicting the future of many a person in the past 26 years. Here is an excerpt from an interview with News Today.
Q: Tell us about your roots.
A: I come from a family of naadi jothidars hailing from Vaitheeswaran Koil village in Nagapattinam District. The hamlet got its name from its Vaitheeswaran Koil, which is the prime home for palm scripts (olai chuvadigal) in Tamilnadu. I make the seventh generation of descendents,
preceded by my father Natarajan (80), grand father Samuthira Rajan, his father Durai Rajan and his father Balan.
Q: Tell us about how you got interested in predicting the future.
A: Right from my childhood, I had great interest in naadi jothidam. I used to cling on to my father’s bicycle and go along with him to see him do his job. I learnt the art from my father and from my guru Dhikshai Rama
Sriram. I started learning the art when I was just eight years old. The study, which comprises of vaaipadugal, took about 14 years to completely master.
Q: Give us insights on naadi jothidam.
A: Naadi jothidam is an ancient astrology that predicts past, present and future of individuals. These predictions have already been written in palmleaves by rishis, primarily Agasthiya Maharishi, and just require proper matching for each and every individual. Here naadi jothidars like me play an important role in not only accurate predictions but also in suggesting the suitable remedies to the identifi ed problems.
