Hyderabad/Amaravati: Following the data theft complaint by the Telugu Desam Party, a case was registered in Amaravati by Andhra Pradesh police and a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up to probe the case.

The case, which is a counter-complaint, has been filed against YSR Congress leaders and some Telangana police officials on the charges of conspiring against the TDP and aiming to steal data belonging to the AP government. The special investigation team is being headed by Additional Director General of Police-rank IPS officer N Balasubrahmanyam.

Meanwhile, Telangana police have claimed that sensitive data related to the state was also found in the possession of the Hyderabad-based IT company which has been booked by it.

Speaking to reporters, Inspector General of Police Stephen Raveendra, heading the SIT in Hyderabad said data related to Telangana also has been found and investigation will be made to know how they got Telangana data. He further claimed that they were suspicious that the data may have manipulated.

According to media reports, preliminary investigation had revealed that the company had illegal access to personal and sensitive data of individuals such as Aadhaar, electoral roll, government schemes and voters information related to various political parties. Look out Circular (LOC) has been issued on D Ahok, the CEO of the company. Raveendra said four teams have been formed to nab Ashok, after he failed to appear before Cyberabad Police despite being summoned.

Based on a complaint by a data analyst Cyberabad police had filed case against IT Grids India Pvt Ltd on 2 March for allegedly stealing of data of voters through Seva Mitra mobile app of the TDP in Andhra Pradesh.

TDP state unit president K Kala Venkata Rao had filed a petition based on which the complaint was registered with the Tulluru police. The petitioner claimed that the TRS was trying to cripple the party with an ultimate aim of helping the opposition YSRC. YSRC leaders and Telangana police officials conspired to engineer en-masse requests for deletion of names from the voters’ list, which was established by several applications being generated from same IP addresses, he alleged.
