Chennai: Police are conducting inquiries with a man who trespassed into Chepauk cricket pitch yesterday while an IPL practice session of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was underway. He did it to meet cricketer M S Dhoni, it is said.
According to the police, the incident had created tension in the stadium premises.
Taking it as a security lapse, police are inquiring with the ‘fan’ identified as S Aravind Kumar (21), a native of Madurai. He is pursuing MBA from a private college there.
He came to the city by Vaigai Express yesterday to watch the IPL practice session. The training had began by 6 pm and mid-way Aravind jumped over the barriers and ran towards Dhoni. Even as Dhoni wished the fan, the stadium staff escorted him out of the ground.
