The recent Pollachi issue has shocked the entire country. In line with this, Dhagam Foundation, an NGO, founded by a few youngsters, recently organised a public meet named ‘Theervai Thedi’, at Muthurangan Salai (behind T Nagar bus terminus) on 17 March and discussed about ways to resolve such issues.

A press release said around 60 persons including residents of various streets, took part and exchanged their views at the venue.

Ideas like forming women’s groups area-wise and frequent meetings of parents with girls, were discussed.
Speaking to this paper, Govind Murugan of Dhagam Foundation said, “While many wanted heinous punishment to the accused in the said case, we aimed to focus on ways to resolve such issues and prevent them from happening in the future.”

“Our foundation has been addressing issues concerning women for the last three years and have organised similar programmes across the city.”

Dhagam Foundation can be reached at 88702 62513.
