Karur: Congress candidate Jothimani (Karur constituency) is leading with more than 141, 400 votes. Whereas, AIADMK candidate Thambidurai, current Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, has secured around 57,500 votes.
Jothimani contested against Thambidurai in the 2014 Indian general election and lost. She was an active worker in Indian Youth Congress. She served asĀ Indian Youth CongressĀ National Coordinator-Ā KeralaĀ – 2008 and as Indian Youth CongressĀ general secretary ā 2009 to 2012. She is also aĀ close associate of the Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
