Chennai: In the series of ‘Happy Spots,’ next comes the park at Kurinji Nagar in Mugalivakkam, Chennai, which is considered as the best hangout place in the neighbourhood.

The spacious park is filled with chirping birds, watery lawns, play area and exercising arena. It has a play area for children, meditation place for senior citizens, walking / jogging spot for youngsters.

“The park was renovated a few months ago. I live nearby, and this is where I spend most of the evening hours with my family. The trees around this park are the saviors as they help us chill during this summer season,” says Murugan from Mugalivakkam.

“I start my day here at this park every morning. This is one of the big parks at Porur and allows people to jog and walk during morning and evening hours. For elderly people like me, this place helps relax our minds. We also have enough space to work out here,” says a senior citizen Purushothaman.

WHAT THEY NEED?
Pebble path, library, LED lights, proper maintenance of toilets and drinking water facility are the amenities that park goers listed out when asked about their requirements. “Although the park is vast, there are some issues that authorities need to look into. Some of the lights here are not functioning, and because of this, most of the residents leave the park before the sun sets,” says Mugalivakkam resident Kumaresan, who visits the park every day.
