Chennai: Rotary Club of Madras Central, jointly with Cancer Institute (WIA), Adyar, inaugurated the country’s largest bone bank at Cancer Institute recently.
A press release said, Rotary Club had approached the Cancer Institute, for help in doing a project which will benefit patients.
Dr Shanta, chairman, proposed that Rotary set up a bone bank for treating bone cancer patients.
Subsequently, it was set up and named as ‘Rotary Madras Central Prahlad Rai Saraogi Bone Bank’ and was inaugurated by international director elect Kamal Sanghvi at the premises of the institute, in its diamond jubilee building (basement). This is the first of its kind bone bank in Tamilnadu and the largest in India.
