Chennai: Union Home Minister, Amit Shah today announced the decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He proposed reorganisation of the State and said a committee for restructuring of Jammu and Kashmir would be formed.
Jammu and Kashmir to be a Union territory with a legislature, Ladakh to be a Union territory without a legislature.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned amidst ruckus following Amit Shah’s announcement.
Responding to the announcement, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted,
Today marks the darkest day in Indian democracy. Decision of J&K leadership to reject 2 nation theory in 1947 & align with India has backfired. Unilateral decision of GOI to scrap Article 370 is illegal & unconstitutional which will make India an occupational force in J&K.
