Tamilnadu Governor, CM extend ‘Pongal’ greetings

Chennai: Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, leaders of various political parties and people from various walks of lives extended their Pongal greetings to the people of Tamilnadu.

In his greetings, Banwarilal Purohit, said, ”On the joyous occasion of  Pongal  and Sankranthi, I extend my best wishes and greetings to the people of Tamilnadu. The Pongal festival is the celebration of harvest, and thanks giving to the Sun God for providing the energy, vitality and life for day to day living and sacrifice of farmers. On this day, we offer our prayers and thank giving for the blessings of Nature and the bounteous harvest that the beginning of the month of ‘Thai’ provides us with”.

”The festival Pongal encompasses within itself the concepts of festivity, equality and fraternity. May the onset of  Pongal bring greater happiness and prosperity in all our families”, he added.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, extending Pongal greetings to the people, said the Tamils across the world celebrate the festival with gaiety. He listed out various schemes initiated by the State government for the welfare of farmers across the State.

The government has gifted Rs 1,000 to every ration card-holder, he said and added, in order to protect the welfare of the farming community, the government has offered various forms of assistance to them including 100 per cent subsidy for micro irrigation, small and micro farmers and 75 per cent subsidy for rest of the agriculturists, the Chief Minister said.

The government has also implemented the schemes named as Chief Minister’s farmers protection scheme, offering certified seeds to them and others, Uzhavan app to provide information on new trends in farming, he added.

Deputy Chief Minister O Pannerselvam in his Pongal greetings said, ”On the joyous occasion, I extend my best wishes and greetings to the people of Tamilnadu for harvest festival”.

Wishing people of Tamilnadu a happy Pongal, TMC president G K Vasan, said, ‘Let’s resolve on this day to stand united irrespective of all difference and preserve natural farming.

The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, extending his warm and hearty Pongal  greetings to his Hindu brethren said, may this auspicious occasion of harvest festival bring all happiness and prosperity to them. The common message of all faiths is to promote respect for other religions, tolerance and fraternal solidarity among people belonging to all communities. Let us remember that the world is better if we are united together, the Prince of Arcot added.

PMK leader Dr S Ramadoss, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, Indian Hajj Association president Abu Backer among others extended their greetings.
