Chennai: A total of 14 passengers, who arrived by an Emirates Airlines flight with symptoms of high fever, cold and cough today, were taken to hospital for medical tests to ascertain whether they are affected by coronavirus.
Airport sources said the 14 passengers, including five women, came in a group via Dubai. Soon after their arrival, the doctors examined them and were admitted to Special medical camp at Poonamallee by a special ambulance, where they would be kept under observation.
The passengers were employed in countries like Denmark, Italy, Sweden, France, Germany and Switzerland and returned home via Dubai due to coronavirus outbreak, which was declared as a pandemic.
Public Health department Director Kulandaisamy said they were kept under observation following symptoms of fever and there
was no possibility of being afflicted by Covid. Of them, nine were from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh and two from Puducherry and they were in the 30 to 40 age group.
Meanwhile, 26 international flights to and from Chennai to various destinations like Doha, Colombo, Kuwait, Singapore,
Germany, Muscat, Dubai, Hong Kong and Malaysia were cancelled due to poor passenger patronage.
