Chennai: As actor-politician Vijayakanth turned 68 on Tuesday, his wife and DMDK treasurer V Premalatha said the wish of the party workers was that it should go alone in the next Assembly polls and should remain as a ‘King’.
Talking to reporters here, she said the wish of the DMDK cadres was that it should go it alone in the elections due in 7-8 months time.
She said during the online consultations held with various district functionaries in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, support grew for the DMDK to face the Assembly polls alone.
Premalatha, however, maintained that its alliance with the ruling AIADMK in Tamilnadu, formed for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, continue till date.
Meanwhile, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and leaders of various parties, including Opposition DMK president M K Stalin greeted Vijayakanth on his birthday and wished him long life.
Party office-bearers, cadres and fans too greeted him and Vijayakanth, who has been recovering from illness. posted a selfie with his family on his twitter, which has gone viral in the social media.
