Chennai: PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss has urged the Union government not to drop the plan to set up the Chennai-Kanniyakumari ECR railway line.

In a statement, he said, “It is unacceptable to scrap the east coast railway line project ignoring people’s welfare and commercial interests.”

The proposal was mooted when PMK’s R Velu was the Union Minister of State for Railways and Rs 523 crore was allocated for laying a 178-km track from Chennai to Cuddalore as part of the project.

Meanwhile, in his request to the State government, Ramadoss demanded the cancellation of public examinations for class 10 and 12 students.

Ramadoss said that the exams should be cancelled and the students should be declared as all-pass based on their performance in the other tests.
