Director Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup featuring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead is a hard-hitting tale based on reality. The story is based on the life of Sukumara Kurup, a man identified as India’s longest-hunted fugitive.
Featuring Indrajith Sukumaran, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Sobhita Dhulipala and Anupama Parameshwaran, among others, the film is told in a non-linear way with events narrated back and forth. The movie is set in the backdrop of the 70s and the 80s. The costume, props, vehicles and the sets take us back to those days.
Kurup chronicles the life of conman turned fugitive Sudhakara Kurup, and Kerala police’s unending chase to find him.
If Dulquer is calm, cool and stylish as Kurup, the fugitive fon, Indrajith as the police officer on his trail is tailor-made for the role. Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko anf Sobhita Dhulipal chip in well.
Kurup is a stylish crime drama filled with excellent performance of the stars. Besides the gripping storyline of the film, the background score and an almost perfect casting makes it a complete package.
An out-and-out Dulquer show, Kurup has a gripping second half and ends up an engaging fare.
