Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor R N Ravi inaugurated the two-day conference of Vice-Chancellors of State and Private Universities at Raj Bhavan in Ooty on Monday to come up with ideas and action plan for ‘Indiaās Role in emerging New World Order’ and ‘India to be the World Leader by 2047’.
In his address, he said that in continuance with the Nationās celebrations of Azadi-Ka-Amrit Mahotsav on completion of 75 years of Indiaās independence, the country is in the next quarter century of Amrit Kaal (Golden age) to be the world leader by 2047.
Hence, the conference is historic as the Vice Chancellors who are the thought
leaders of the country, will deliberate for two days and come up with ideas
and innovative action plans for resurgence in our educational system which will ensure our youths to become more confident and productive to compete
and conquer the world, he added.
Under the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Nation is emerging as an united glorious self-reliant India, with motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas – all inclusive growth in which every citizen is an active participant in the growth story and also the rightful recipients of its benefits.
‘It’s a mass movement’, the Governor said, adding, the paradigm of Indiaās
development and growth has undergone fundamental change in 2014 with
the new national leadership.
‘Instead, looking at the country in terms of divisions along religion, race,
geography, caste and creed, and soul making in differentials interventions
along the divisions and sub divisions while let to huge regional and sub
regional imbalances and social tensions, how the country is looked at the
organic whole and all its citizen as member of a family. Without any
discrimination, whatsoever, benefits are reaching every citizen’, he said.
In the last over seven years there has been radical and revolutionary
transformation in the country. With digital India revolution and revolutionary projects of Jan-Dhan Yojana in which more than 450 million citizen open bank accounts, it has been possible to transfer the benefits of welfare schemes directly to the citizen without intervention of middlemen.
On the steps taken by the Ayush Ministry, he said from USD three billion
sector, it has grown to own USD 18 billion and is expected to grow to
USD 23 billion this year.
A large number of Ayush universities and colleges have been set up in the
country. Unleashing and harnessing the youth power by creating conducive
eco-system is catapulting India steadily to higher ranks in the comity of
nations.
Observing that India is among the top three in the world in the area of
start-ups, the Governor exhorted the Vice Chancellors that within existing
constraints and limitations in the educational set-up there are ample space
for innovations to transform the higher education in ways to meet the
aspirations and expectations of the students to dream big and do big in life
and career.
The Governor hoped that the ideas and action plans that would emerge
from two days of deliberations will be valuable inputs for policy for the
governments both State and Centre.
