Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi took the floor in Parliament today to voice the Congress Party’s stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill. During her address, she firmly asserted the Congress Party’s support for the bill’s implementation.
Sonia Gandhi stated, “The Congress demands the swift implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill. Furthermore, we urge for an immediate caste census and inclusion of quotas for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes (OBC) within the framework of the bill.”
Highlighting the historical context, she remarked, “Reservation in local bodies was initially introduced by my late husband, Rajiv Gandhi. His vision for empowering marginalized sections of society remains partially fulfilled. The passage of this bill will bring his dream to fruition.”
