In preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup matches scheduled to take place at the M.A. Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police have put in place a comprehensive traffic diversion plan. These diversions will be effective from noon to 10 p.m. on specific dates, including October 8, 13, 23, and 27. Here are the key details of the traffic diversions:

1. One-Way Roads: Victoria Hostel Road (Canal Road) and Bells Road

Both Victoria Hostel Road (Canal Road) and Bells Road will be designated as one-way streets.

MTC buses traveling from Kannagi statue will not be allowed to enter Bells Road and will be redirected to Bharathi Salai towards the Ratna Cafe junction.

Vehicles traveling from the Rathna Cafe junction will be diverted to Bells Road and Wallajah Road.

Vehicles will not be permitted to proceed towards Kannagi statue from the Bharathi Salai-Bells Road Junction.

2. MTC Buses with Passes Bearing Alphabet M, T, and V:

Buses traveling from Anna Salai to Wallajah Road will not be allowed on Bells Road. Instead, they will be rerouted at the Labour Statue towards Kamarajar Salai, Kannagi Statue, and Bharathi Salai.

3. Vehicles with Passes Bearing Alphabet B and R:

Vehicles traveling from Anna Salai to Wallajah Road, bearing passes with alphabet B and R, will be directed to the parking lot at MRTS and Pattabiraman Gate rather than using Bells Road.

4. Vehicles from War Memorial and Gandhi Statue:

Vehicles with passes bearing alphabet M, T, and V originating from War Memorial and Gandhi Statue will be permitted to travel through Bharathi Salai and Canal Road.

Other vehicles will be redirected to Foreshore Service Road for parking.

5. Vehicles with Passes Bearing Alphabet B and R:

Vehicles with passes bearing alphabet B and R, starting from War Memorial and Gandhi Statue, will be allowed to proceed via Bharathi Salai, Bells Road, and Wallajah Road to reach the parking area at MRTS and Pattabiraman Gate. They will not have access to Wallajah Road from the Labour Statue.

6. Vehicles without Passes from Anna Salai:

Vehicles without passes, traveling from Anna Salai, will be diverted through Wallajah Road, Labour Statue, and Kamarajar Salai to Foreshore Service Road.

7. Vehicles without Passes from War Memorial and Gandhi Statue:

Vehicles without passes, departing from War Memorial, will be rerouted through Kamarajar Salai to Foreshore Service Road.

Vehicles departing from Gandhi Statue will be redirected via Kamarajar Salai to Foreshore Service Road.
