Actor-comedian Yogi Babu, known for his impeccable comedic timing and notable performances, is set to headline a new film titled “Constable Nandhan.” The film, described as an emotional drama, will be directed by Boobala Natesan in his directorial debut. Natesan, who has previously assisted directors like Sundar C, Sasikumar, and Mu Kalanjiyam, collaborates with Yogi Babu for the second time after their work together on the yet-to-be-released “Kuruvikkaran.”In “Constable Nandhan,” Yogi Babu will portray a compassionate and idealistic police constable, a stark departure from his usual comedic roles. Director Boobala Natesan elaborates, “As the title suggests, Yogi Babu plays a simple police constable who can be described as the epitome of compassion. He is the ideal policeman you have ever met. In stark contrast, Ravi Maria essays Inspector Krishna Raj, who is almost like a monster. You can never see another evil person like him. The film will follow their dynamics and struggles.”
The inspiration for the story stemmed from a conversation with a college friend, combined with insights from a police officer to understand the hierarchical structure and treatment within police stations. Natesan asserts, “There would not be much space for comedy for Yogi Babu in the film. It will ride mostly on the emotional aspect of the story.
The film was officially launched at the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai on Sunday. “Constable Nandhan” is produced by D Shankar under the Shankar Productions banner. Pre-production is ongoing, with the remaining cast and technical crew still being finalized.
The film is set to begin shooting soon, with a planned 35-day schedule in Chennai to complete filming. The release date has not yet been disclosed.
