South Chennai MP Tamizhachi Thangapandian has called on Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to mandate the installation of sanitary napkin vending machines at all railway stations across the country to address the emergency needs of female passengers.
During a meeting with the Railway Minister in New Delhi yesterday, MP Tamizhachi emphasized the importance of ensuring that every railway station’s shops are required to stock sanitary napkins. She also urged the minister to install automated vending machines that dispense sanitary napkins, thereby providing immediate access to these essential items for women travelers.
In addition to her request for the vending machines, Tamizhachi advocated for the implementation of the ‘Amrit Bharat’ scheme at the Saidapet Railway Station in Chennai. She highlighted the need for platform expansion, installation of escalators, additional surveillance cameras, ramps for differently-abled individuals, and modernized ticketing facilities.
Her appeal aims to enhance the safety, convenience, and overall experience for female passengers and ensure that railway stations across India are equipped with necessary amenities.
