Former Minister and senior AIADMK leader D. Jayakumar recently criticized the ruling DMK government, stating that AIADMK possesses an administrative structure that no other party in Tamil Nadu has. He emphasized that if the party works strategically, it can return to power in the upcoming elections.Speaking about the current state of governance, Jayakumar noted that the people of Tamil Nadu are increasingly dissatisfied with the DMK-led government. He accused the DMK of running the state with a focus solely on family interests, which he claimed has resulted in a disconnect from the needs of the people.
Jayakumar also highlighted the public backlash against the discontinuation of several welfare schemes, such as the free laptop distribution program, which had been introduced during the AIADMK government. He further criticized the DMK for continuing what he described as anti-people actions, including the perpetuation of a drug culture and ongoing sexual violence against women.
Referring to the current governance style, Jayakumar claimed that Chief Minister Stalin is operating as a “remote-controlled” leader, with no knowledge of the ground-level issues affecting the people. He also pointed out that the panchayat system has been in disarray under the DMK, with little to no oversight on local governance.
Meanwhile, Anbumani Ramadoss, leader of the PMK, has suggested that coalition governance is the only way forward for Tamil Nadu, reflecting his party’s stance on the political future of the state.
Jayakumar’s remarks underline AIADMK’s opposition to the current government while asserting the party’s readiness to challenge the DMK in the next election, backed by its strong organizational framework.
