Traffic diversions announced for R-Day celebrations in Chennai

The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions in preparation for Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and the rehearsals scheduled for January 20, 22, and 24. These measures aim to ensure the smooth conduct of events and will primarily impact Kamarajar Salai and its surrounding areas.
The stretch of Kamarajar Salai between Gandhi Statue and War Memorial will remain closed to all vehicular traffic from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. or until the event or rehearsal concludes. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly during these hours to avoid inconvenience.
For Commercial Vehicles Traveling from Adyar to Parrys Corner:
Vehicles will be diverted at Greenways Point via R.K. Mutt Road, Thiruvenkadam Street, Devanathan Street, St. Mary’s Road, Venkatesa Agraharam Road, Dr. Ranga Road, East Abiramapuram 1st Road, Ramachandra Rao Road, Luz Avenue, Amrutanjan Junction, P.S. Sivasamy Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, G.R.H., Tower Clock, G.P. Road, Anna Salai, and Broadway.
For Other Vehicles, Including MTC Buses, Traveling from Adyar to Parrys Corner:
Vehicles will be diverted at Gandhi Statue to R.K. Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, G.R.H., Tower Clock, G.P. Road, Anna Salai, and Broadway.
For Vehicles from Mylapore and Dr. Radhakrishnan Road:
At Royapettah I Point, vehicles will be directed left towards Nilgiris, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, G.R.H., and Tower Clock. Alternatively, vehicles can turn left or right as per their destination.
At Dr. Natesan Road and Avvai Shanmugam Salai Junction, vehicles will be diverted to Ice House Junction, prohibiting movement towards Kamarajar Salai.
Vehicles approaching Dr. Besant Road and Dr. Kamarajar Salai Junction will also be diverted to Ice House Junction towards T.H. Road.
Traffic at Bharathi Salai and Bells Road Junction will be redirected to Bells Road, and vehicles from Wallajah Road and Bells Road Junction will have no access to Kamarajar Salai.
During the rehearsals and Republic Day celebrations, the Anna Square Bus Terminus will be temporarily shifted to Chintadripet Railway Station.
Diversions for Vehicles from Parrys Corner to Adyar
Vehicles heading from Parrys Corner towards Adyar will be rerouted at R.B.I. Subway (North) via Raja Annamalai Mandram, Muthusamy Point, Wallajah Point, Anna Salai, Anna Statue, General Patters Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, West Cott Road, G.R.H., Royapettah High Road, Ajantha Junction, Lloyds Road (VP Raman Road), Justice Jambulingam Street, and R.K. Salai. Flag Staff House Road will be inaccessible from Wallajah Point towards the War Memorial.
