The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has passed a resolution demanding that the Governor be given a deadline to approve state government bills and files. The resolution was made during the DMK MPs’ consultative meeting held at Anna Arivalayam, chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin.The meeting, attended by Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from the party, primarily focused on the upcoming Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26. Chief Minister Stalin provided strategic guidelines to the MPs, instructing them to highlight Tamil Nadu’s financial concerns in Parliament.
Several key resolutions were passed during the session, including a demand to set a specific timeframe for Governors to approve state bills, urging the Union Government to withdraw the UGC’s draft rules, and requesting new railway projects for Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget.
The DMK continues to push for greater autonomy for state governments, emphasizing the need for timely decision-making from the Governor’s office to ensure smooth governance.
